293 was a publication developed in response to Alan Morris’ 2019 research, ‘Gentrification and Displacement: The Forced Relocation of Public Housing Tenants in Inner Sydney’. The title refers to the 293 public housing properties earmarked for sale across Millers Point, The Rocks and the Sirius building, displacing a long established inner city community.

Focus is a typographic and image-making project investigating the road signage of Sydney’s streets. Drawing from the visual language, typography and systems found in everyday signage, the publication explores how these functional forms can be reinterpreted through image and type. The publication features selected writings from Robert Bringhurst’s The Elements of Typographic Style, using typography as both subject and material.
